How Bahrain visas work
UAE residence visas come in several flavours. Most expats start with an employment visa, sponsored and paid for by the employer (medical, Bahrain ID, stamping, insurance, entry permit). Family members come on dependent visas, sponsored by the resident, with a similar fee structure per person.
The Golden Visa is a 10-year renewable residency for investors with at least BHD 2m in property or BHD 500k in a Bahrain business, and for talented professionals with ministry nomination. Freelance permits are issued by free zones (IFZA, Fujairah Creative City, SHAMS, etc.) and bundle a trade licence with a self-sponsored visa.
An expat employee plus spouse and one child cost roughly: employment visa BHD 2,970 (employer pays) + 2 dependent visas at BHD 2,150 each = a household visa bill of BHD 7,270, plus property and tenancy fees on top.
