How Bahrain visas work
UAE residence visas come in several flavours. Most expats start with an employment visa, sponsored and paid for by the employer (medical, Bahrain ID, stamping, insurance, entry permit). Family members come on dependent visas, sponsored by the resident, with a similar fee structure per person.
The Golden Residency is a 10-year renewable residency for property owners (BHD 130,000 or more), long-term professionals (basic salary above BHD 2,000 per month) and retirees (pension above BHD 4,000 per month). Self-employment. Self-employment is possible via the LMRA flexi-permit (self-sponsorship).
An expat employee plus spouse and one child cost roughly: employment visa BHD 2,970 (employer pays) + 2 dependent visas at BHD 2,150 each = a household visa bill of BHD 7,270, plus property and tenancy fees on top.
